Svenskt Tenn’s Lighting
Lighting was of great importance to both Estrid Ericson and Josef Frank, and lamps in various designs have therefore played a central role in Svenskt Tenn’s collection over the years.

About Svenskt Tenn’s lighting
Lamps, chandeliers and ceiling lights have featured in Svenskt Tenn’s range since its earliest days. The very first Svenskt Tenn catalogue from 1925 included several sketches of pewter lamps, and that same year, the company presented its first lighting fixures at an exhibition at Liljevalchs in Stockholm.
Estrid Ericson“I know of nothing that contributes so much to a certain mood as the right lighting. A harsh, cold ceiling light dulls the mood, makes the eyes smart, and takes away much of the picturesque atmosphere of home.”

Decorate with lighting
There should be at least five light sources in each room. The light should be preferably lower down and at different levels. These were Josef Frank’s thoughts on lighting. Svenskt Tenn provides some inspiration and advice on how you can best decorate with lighting.

Rubn in Vittsjö
Most of Svenskt Tenn’s own lamps are made in Sweden using traditional craft techniques, with many of the steps carried out by hand. Production takes place at Karlskrona Lamp Factory or Rubn in Vittsjö. Rubn was founded in 1951 by brothers Uno and Östen Kristiansson, with a focus on aesthetics, durability, function and quality.

Josef Frank
Austrian designer and architect Josef Frank has had an enormous impact on the history of Swedish design. Despite being nearly 50 years old when emigrating to Sweden, he is now considered one of the country’s most important designers of all time.
