A magical world of interiors. Svenskt Tenn’s unique design ethos begins within the iconic store at Strandvägen 5. This is a place where innovation, prints and outstanding design is manifested in a warm and inviting atmosphere. A space where the setting is as important as the products themselves.
The store has been located at the same address in Stockholm since 1927, and today it also houses Svenskt Tenn's Interior Design Studio and Café. In the store, the interiors are designed as homely room settings: living rooms, conservatories, workspaces, dining rooms, and table settings.

Inviting table settings
At the store on Strandvägen 5, the tables are set in the spirit of the company founder Estrid Ericson, with glass, porcelain, napkins and flower arrangements.
The lighting department
Lighting has been an important part of Svenskt Tenn's range since the 1920s. You can find drawings of pewter lamps in our first catalogue from 1925, and that same year, Svenskt Tenn showed several lamp designs in an exhibition at Liljevalchs Museum in Stockholm. In 1931, our founder Estrid Ericson rented a space at Gallerie Moderne in the Royal Dramatic Theatre to display entire interiors with lighting, and in 1934, she opened the first lighting department in the store. The current lighting department was inaugurated in the autumn of 2022 in Svenskt Tenn's expanded premises at Strandvägen 5.
The Pewter Room
It all began with pewter, and in the Pewter Room, you can find pewter objects and jewellery designed from the 1920s to today.
In 1927, Svenskt Tenn moved its store from Smålandsgatan to Strandvägen 5 in Stockholm. The renowned architect Uno Åhrén designed the new premises, including an extraordinary pewter roof with a chequered latticework of brass bars. The ceiling was taken down when the store was remodelled and expanded in 1978, but with the help of historical photos, it was recreated in a 2011 renovation.

The Textile Department
Svenskt Tenn opened the first textile department on the upper floor of the store in 1934. Today, it offers exclusive fabrics, cushions, throws and rugs, as well as textile accessories and fittings.

Estrid Ericson’s workroom
Numerous projects have taken shape at the desk in Estrid Ericson’s workroom. The room is like an artist’ studio, where she sat planning exhibitions, interiors and upcoming launches with architect and designer Josef Frank. The room was used from 1934 to 1981 and was recreated during Svenskt Tenn’s renovation in 2011. Today, it is preserved behind glass on the upper floor of the store at Strandvägen 5.

The Strandvägen Gallery
Every year, Svenskt Tenn presents historical and contemporary exhibitions in the store’s Strandvägsgalleriet (Strandvägs gallery). Larger furnishings, new launches, and collaborations with Swedish and international designers, artists and interior designers are presented here.
